Short version
Tabito collects nothing, sends nothing, and stores nothing outside your own browser. There is no server, no account, no analytics, and no third parties.
What Tabito accesses, and why
Tabito requests four permissions, each used only for the feature it enables:
- tabs — reads the URLs and open/active state of your tabs to detect duplicates, find live Google Meet tabs, and switch or close tabs on your behalf. URLs are read in memory to make these decisions and are never recorded or transmitted.
- alarms — sets local timers that auto-close an unused duplicate tab or a Google Meet tab after a call ends.
- storage — saves your settings (such as your chosen timeouts and toggles) in the browser's own storage so they persist between sessions.
- tabGroups — names and colors the tab groups created by the "Clean tabs now" button.
What Tabito does not do
- It does not collect, log, or transmit your browsing history, URLs, page content, or any personal data.
- It does not use content scripts and does not read the content of any web page.
- It does not request host permissions for any website.
- It does not use cookies, trackers, or analytics.
- It does not sell or share any data, because it holds none.
Data storage
The only data stored is your settings, kept locally via the browser's storage
API (and synced across your own signed-in browsers by the browser itself if you have sync
enabled). Removing the extension removes this data.
Payments and donations
The extension contains an optional link to a support page. If you choose to donate, that transaction happens entirely on the linked page and its payment provider; Tabito itself neither processes nor receives any payment information.
